Dictionary
Human-in-the-Loop
A control pattern where humans review high-risk AI decisions before execution.
Definition
Human-in-the-Loop design inserts approval, correction, or escalation points into an AI workflow when the cost of a wrong action is higher than the cost of human review.
Example
An invoice automation books trusted vendors automatically but sends unusual amounts or unknown vendors to finance for approval.
